Pampamesa Kitchen
Latin American Dining in Chicago

From the Andes to Chicago
Pampa mesa is a term used in indigenous communities in the Ecuadorean highlands to describe a communal meal. The name comes from the Kichwa word pampa, meaning "ground" or "plain," and the Spanish word mesa, meaning "table."

Made to Pass
Pampa mesa is more than just a meal. It represents solidarity among participants. The act of sharing food is seen as a way to connect with each other and with Pachamama, the earth mother in Inca mythology.
